NUIG Inline Hockey Club was formed in the 2008/2009 academic year.

The club has grown steadily since its inception in '08-'09 and is now at the stage where we are ready to compete in intervarsities. Several of our players have played for the regional Galway Bay Lightning team in national tournaments.

NUIG inline hockey played their 1st competitive competition in March 2012. The National event featured four teams from Galway, kilkenny, waterford and Cork. NUIG competed courageously and were unfortunate not to come away with the trophy. They were narrowly defeated by a developing Kilkenny team in the final game but secured a very commendable 2nd place in the 4 team tournament in what was their inaugural experience in competitive Inline Hockey.
