Mountain Bike

The Mountain Bike Club was set up with the intention of making mountain biking in the west more accessible for students and staff of the university. The Club is open to everyone from beginners to experts.

Beginners will be able to get out on rented bikes on our organized trips. The trails we will be riding are professionally built as well as suitable and fun to all riders. Bike rental also covers essentials such as helmets.

Cross-country mountain biking trips will take place at the Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Trails in co. Limerick. These trips focus more on endurance, however the trails are still quite technical and the descents are great!

Downhill mountain biking trips are to Bike Park Ireland. There is an uplift service here so no biking up long hills! Trails here range from packed down gravel to very technical steep descents. Perfect for beginners and advanced riders!

Experienced mountain bikers should contact us so we can organize spins outside of the organized trips with you.

The club has been running for a few years now, helping facilitate the growing sport of mountain biking for all our members. We have had countless trips around Ireland, organised skills training days with local shops, and even help our own CX race on campus, as part of the Connacht CX league.

While our club is mainly leisure based, we have had a number of competitive riders within the club, racing all over Ireland and some even overseas, attaining notable results, including numerous league medals in the Connacht MTB league.

Spinning Classes are every Monday at 6:20 pm in Dance Hall D in the Kingfisher.

Experienced mountain bikers should contact us if they want to join us on spins.
